Antique Edwardian 9CT Yellow & Rose Gold Sweetheart Bar Pin Brooch - Chased - Hearts Flowers #c686
This beautiful Edwardian bar pin brooch is a romantic piece of jewelry with lovely hearts and flowers that are commonly referred to as sweetheart brooches. These brooches were often given as signs of affection from a man to his special lady. It is an English piece with a full set of Chester hallmarks that date it to 1904.

The brooch is comprised of fine 9Ct yellow and rose gold. It is an open work, bar-shaped piece with a circular center and features a multi-level construction. The center has a raised, circular rose gold section with cut out and chased hearts, flowers, leaves and a bow, while the bottom yellow gold piece has large leaves and flowers on each end. The lovely designs are all hand chased and absolutely superb. The brooch is finished with two gold beads at the top and bottom of the center circle. It closes with a tube hinge pin and c clasp. It's a fantastic antique brooch!

The brooch measures about 11/16 inch long, 1 1/2 inches wide and weighs 2.0 grams. It is signed with a makers mark of what appears to be "TSB" and hallmarked with the Chester Assay mark, a "9" for 9Ct gold, a "375" for 9Ct gold and with an uppercase letter "D" in script for the year 1904. I could not identify the maker's mark. The pin of the brooch is not gold and is most likely a replacement piece.

Antique sweetheart brooches are enchanting and highly collectible pieces. This brooch is extremely nice and would make a great addition to an antique jewelry collection. It would make an exceptional gift for that special lady in your life! The brooch is in excellent antique condition. It has patina from age and some evidence of soldering at connection points of the various pieces. As mentioned above, the pin back appears to have been replaced at some point. It's an exceptional piece of history that you can enjoy and wear!
