Vintage Art Deco Bucherer 800 Silver & Marcasite Ladies Revolving Swiss Lavalier Watch Brooch - 17 Jewels - Runs! #d183

Regular price $417.00
This marvelous Art Deco brooch watch was created by the Carl F. Bucherer company of Switzerland, which was founded in 1888. They are one of the oldest luxury watchmakers and are still operating today with the 3rd generation of family members.

The watch brooch is comprised of 800 silver and marcasite stones. It features an exquisite silver and marcasite, double bow brooch at the top with multiple cutouts. The brooch has a pin back to allow it to be pinned on clothing. A long marcasite studded lavalier hangs down from the bow and holds the watch. The watch is decorated with sparkly marcasites on both sides of the face and at the top and bottom. It hangs inside a frame that revolves to either show the face of the watch or an ornate, marcasite studded decorative back, allowing the piece to be worn just as a decorative lavalier brooch if desired. The watch is oriented upside down, which allows it to be read by the wearer. The watch has 17 jewels and is square in shape. It has a white dial, silver Arabic numerals for the hours 12 and 6 and stick style marks for the rest of the hours. The crown is present, winds properly, and pulls out to set the time. The watch is running and kept time well when compared to my modern Citizen Eco Drive watch. This is a superb Art Deco watch and is absolutely stunning in person!

The watch and brooch together measure about 3 inches long and 1 5/16 inches wide and weigh 25.1 grams. The brooch is signed and hallmarked "800" and "CB" for Carl Bucherer on the back. The watch dial is signed with the Bucherer logo and "Bucherer 17 Jewels". The watch crown is marked with the letter "B". The watch movement is marked "Swiss" and "17 Jewels". The watch case is Swiss made and is marked inside the back cover with the Swiss crossbow and laurel leaves mark and a number 12 for silver maker Averos SA, Boécourt (in business in 1934), with the “poinçons de maître” or 1920s responsibility mark of FFBA for the Marquee of Fédération des Fabricants de Boîtes Argent, with the precious metals symbol of a grouse for 800 silver and with a 0.800 silver mark.

This is such a fine vintage timepiece! It's beautiful, highly collectible and would make a great addition to a fine vintage watch collection. As mentioned previously, the watch winds and ran well when tested. The watch and brooch are in excellent vintage condition and ready to be worn and admired!
