Vintage Mexico 960 Silver Kokopelli Pierced Earrings, Silver Overlay, Flute Player, Southwest #c620
For offer today, I have this wonderful pair of 960 silver Kokopelli pierced earrings from Mexico!

The Kokopelli, or flute player, is an important symbol in the Southwestern culture and dates back thousands of years, having been discovered throughout the Southwest in early petroglyph drawings. The symbol is said to represent fertility, dance, mischief among other other meanings.

These beautiful earrings are Mexican, but I truly thought they were of Hopi origin when I first saw them. They exhibit a wonderful silver overlay technique with raised silver surfaces and low tooled designs that are etched and oxidized to highlight them against the silver. The earring dangles are very long and decorated with fabulous depictions of the ancient, mythical Kokopelli figure and geometric shapes and swirls. The backs of the dangles are finished in a smooth silver and the earrings attach to the ear with sterling silver ear wires. They are striking!

The earrings measure about 2 7/16 inches long, 9/16 inch wide and weigh 11.1 grams. They are signed "Mexico" and hallmarked "Sterling" and "960" on the backs of the dangles.

These earrings are so beautiful and the ancient symbol they represent make them even more special! They would nicely complement your other Mexican or Southwestern silver and can be easily dressed up or down. They would make a fine addition to your vintage silver jewelry collection. The earrings are in excellent vintage condition and ready to wear!
