Vintage Mexico Sterling Silver & Red Glass Stone Spiral Screw Back Earrings - Pre-Eagle #c764
These lovely handmade earrings are early Mexican and were created in the 1940s prior to the use of Eagle stamp system. They feature large emerald-cut, pinkish-red glass stones that have been prong-set into ornate sterling silver settings. Silver curls, spirals and fleur-de-lis style decorations accent all sides of the stone, setting them off beautifully. The earrings are open in the back allowing light to reach and enhance the pretty red stones. The earrings close with screw back closures. They are gorgeous!

The earrings measure about 7/8 inch long, 13/16 inch wide and weigh 9.4 grams. They are hallmarked and signed "Silver Mexico" on the backs of both of the earrings (partially obscured). There is also what looks like a makers mark that begins with a V, but I was unable to decipher it.

These earrings are so beautiful and unique! They would make a fine addition to a Mexican jewelry collection and a super gift. The earrings are in very good condition for their age with normal surface scratches from previous use. One of the earring screw backs is a little wavy (photo #7) but it doesn't affect its beauty or functionality. Being handmade, the earrings will exhibit variations that would not be found in machine-made pieces. They are a fantastic vintage find!
